Great ways to reuse your Goodie Tin

Great way to recycle your Goodie Tin

April 22 is Earth Day and felt like a good time to share some ideas on how to reuse your Goodie Tin.

Great ways to reuse your Goodie Tin

An additional benefit of a Goodie Tin is once you consume the goodies inside…flowers, coffee, nuts etc, the Goodie Tin itself can be recycled and used however you’d like.  Here are some great ideas on how you can reuse.

Baby Keepsake Holder – This one is a no-brainer. The tin is perfect to store some of the most precious memories from baby’s first. At a gallon, it is large enough to hold baby’s going home outfit, all his hospital bracelets, navel (once it drops off)  and many other firsts.

Baby Shower Memory Keeper – Another easy one. We like to use the Goodie Tin to hold the lovely notes and cards that you receive at a baby shower.

Organize, Organize – Spring is the perfect time to purge and add some order to things. Goodie Tins are a handy way  to keep little things organized. From Lego pieces to ribbons and bows. The list of what you can keep neat and in place is endless.

Use as decor – Based on the color of your Goodie Tin,  it can be used to accent a space like the bathroom pictured here. Love how the crisp blues and whites all came together in this bathroom.

Any ideas on how you’ll use your empty Goodie Tin?

Is the Christmas card dead?

If you are like me, you agonize for weeks about the annual Christmas card. Will the kids cooperate? Will they be sick, cranky, or tired when the picture-taking time comes around? So this year I stepped back to see if this would be the year we walked away from the holiday card. We have done them every year since my 4-yr old son was born.

First I thought about the purpose of the card. Was it merely a self-serving “look at my beautiful family” spectacle? Or was it the genuine well-wishing sentiment it was meant to be. Upon further examination I honestly do believe that my holiday cards are sent with the right intention behind them. It is to show the relatives that we don’t see often how big the kids are getting (my husband and I are never in the pictures) And it is a way to reach out to let family and friends know that they are remembered during this special time of the year (I still write a note on the back of every card).

As much work as it is, it has become a tradition. With three kids under 5 and no time to spare, I’ve started to abandon a lot of traditions. So we shine up the kids, ply them with food and drink, make sure they take their naps and jump around like fools to get them to smile in hopes of the perfect Christmas shot.

Another option for your holiday photo, a personalized gift tin filled with holiday goodies.

Adding some drama to a baby shower by Goodie Tins

Last week’s Feature Friday on Facebook was all about adding some drama to a baby shower in an elegant way. We did it with the “Tower of Tins”. We got lots of responses from people who thought the idea was just darling. Our position is that a baby shower doesn’t have to be a childish pink and blue affair.

Instead of the typical, and let’s face it often useless favors, our favors served double-duty as both centerpiece and party favor. This is just one example of how a baby shower can be more tailored to represent the aesthetic of the parents-to-be. Further intrigued, we searched around to find the top trends in baby showers.

The Jack and Jill shower.

Instead of the dad-to-be having to sit through the baby shower all by himself, with a Jack and Jill showers, he gets to invite his bros. The atmosphere is casual.
Good drinks, good food, and good conversation. No silly games and activities.

The Green Shower

We saw this one on Babycenter and are still not sure what to think about it. Instead of buying new items, guests are encouraged to bring gently used items. Sounds practical and makes sense but it doesn’t it take the fun out of tearing into a brand new present.

The Charity Shower

Really loved that when celebrity Mom Tori Spelling had a shower for her third child, she opted out of receiving gifts and instead asked that guests donate to her favorite charity
benefiting babies.

The Daddy Shower?

Is nothing scared? After all that moms-to-be have to go through… the weight gain, the stretch marks, can’t they have something just for them. Not a fan of this idea.

The Extreme Theme Baby Shower

From books to movies, someparents are really taking it to the next level. We’ve seen the cutest showers based on favorite children’s tales like Good Night Moon and even a Star Wars themed baby shower.

The Sip and See

We first learned about this one from Phaedra Parks from the Real Housewives of Atlanta television series. Apparently it’s a Southern tradition where family and friends visit after the baby is born.

Welcome Baby – Goodie Tins Style

Image

How do you prepare the founder of the company for her precious new addition? You throw her a Goodie Tins themed party, that’s how. Friends and family came from all over to shower Zabrina with love as she welcomed her new baby boy. Here are some of the pictures from that day.
